Luira Borderless State of Mind Dancelab Dansens Hus, august 2023 Tromsø Kulturhus (1).jpg

Luíra is a violinist, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and music producer of primaeval folk music from the barren tundra of arctic Norway.

With an expression preceding folk music, she explores new musical soundscapes where polyphony not only emerges from opposing musical elements, but also in the way the music crosses between different genres.

While having a solid classical background as a prizewinning violinist, her spirituality comes to life through her Mongolian throat singing, kulning and joiking. With an arctic heritage, Luíra has spent many years exploring the Sami joik, and as a founder of the metal band Adeia, growling is also deeply rooted into her music.

In addition, Luíra performs on various ancient, indigenous and folk instruments, such as her Sami framedrum, jaw harp, Finnish jouhikko, Norwegian hardanger fiddle and knuckles and bones.

Combining her unique skill set as a musician with a special expertise in musical styles, a distinct expression is created that only belongs to Luíra.

The newest single, `Concrete Suffocation` was written by Luíra for our beautiful mother earth 🌱 To honor her, to show the world how incredible she is and what is going to happen with humankind, if we keep building, destroying, and taking without thought. We have gone too far, taking far more then we need,... and forgetting one thing in the process: we only have one earth. The human race on the other hand, is living right now like we have 8... 🌍 What will happen to future generations, if we only keep thinking about ourselves, with media and governments brainwashing our souls that we are in need of more, that there is actually nothing dangerous happening right now? What has happened to taking care of each other, being in the moment, eating only that we are in need of, nourishing our souls in nature,... our biggest friend, our temple, our home? What are all those world leaders and businessmen going to do, if our home disappears? Money is not going to save anybody then...

`If we unite, anything is possible 💗 I have faith and hope in the human race and the future`. -

says Luíra. Mother Earth needs our love and help, more then anything right now. And yes, there is hope for the future, if we act now! Real change starts within ourselves, and do not forget: the smallest step can cause a big wave of change 🌊

 - Sky above me - Earth below me - Fire within me - Spirit all around me -

Luíra is a versatile musician, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer and musicproducer who takes the audience on a magical journey.

Her music guides the listener to a special place, where one can overcome and forget everything for a moment: the mind travels to breathtaking rugged mountain tops, or wanders through a misty forest where dancing elves spread their love, and sprankle prism coloured lights throughout the small, nordic forest animalpaths…

Luíra shows the public that untouched nature, our mother earth, is always here for us and guides us. If we really listen.

The great strength of music is that it unites, inspires, heals and shows that it`s always the light that wins.

As a musician Luíra would like to help and inspire others, to show that we are never really alone, and often stronger than we think.

In a world and society dominated by the masculine, she wants to emphasize it is a strength to cry, a strength to show emotions and the real `you`, and that it is an even greater strength to ask for help.

Especially with regard to climate change and the human footprint, Luíra would like to emphasize the importance of protecting and preserving the untouched nature that still exists. Being vegan for many years now, living small, mindfull and minimalistic, she wishes to inspire others to become more aware and take words into action in their own way; something that is so incredibly needed right now.

                        - We are all connected -

Performance Siljustøl Familiedag on june 2, 2024 in Bergen. Organised by performing artist Jan Holden and Festspillene i Bergen.

Luíra was performing on her Sami drum, harding fiddle, jawharp and joiket. Her character for the festival was a `hulder`.

The hulder is a supernatural, female being in Norwegian folklore and legends. She is stronger and prettier than human women, but has a hollow back and cow tail.

A hulder is seductive and has a beautiful voice. She can capture people, that is, lure them to her and hold them captive. Hulders are invisible, but can suddenly appear and then disappear again just as quickly…
